To become a fully certified EFT therapist, you must first complete a 4-day EFT Externship. Externships are offered throughout the year in a variety of locations nationwide. Our Knoxville Externship takes place in August of each year. You can find other Externship offerings by visiting ICEEFT at www.iceeft.com.
Once you have completed your 4-day Externship, you can choose to complete the additional requirements for certification, which include the following:
Core Skills Training
8 Hours of EFT Supervision with an approved supervisor
Recording of sessions to demonstrate specific steps of EFT
Application and supporting paperwork
Externship
The first step in becoming certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy is to complete a 4-day EFT Externship. The externship offers clinicians an opportunity to learn an overview of the model, as well as specific steps and stages unique to the EFT approach. During the externship therapists will participate in group discussion, small and large group exercises, view video of the approach being demonstrated as well as observe a live session facilitated by your trainer.
